If the holiday season has put you in the mood to serve others or you want to jump start your New Year's resolution to give back to the community, there are dozens of organizations that could use the help. Arts for All Nevada- A non-profit dedicated to the idea that everyone has access to art no matter age, income, or ability. Volunteer opportunities include teaching classes to organizing supplies. 

The Discovery- There are many opportunities to choose from at The Discovery. From greeting visitors, to helping present science demonstrations, to working behind the scenes, there is a volunteer position for nearly everyone. 

Washoe CASA Foundation-  CASA volunteers serve as a voice for abused and neglected children by providing judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.

Watch the Wild- Nature Abounds volunteers observe and report the "wild" in the community, from plants and streams to weather and wildlife activity. Observations are then shared with scientists.

Girls on the Run- Through GOTR curriculum, girls recognize the heir inner strength, develop skills and an appreciation for health and fitness and community service. 

Crisis Support Services of Nevada- If you can handle stressful situations and can lend an empathetic ear, you might be a good candidate for Crisis Support Services of Nevada. 

Senior Outreach Services- SOS offer companionship services for seniors. Typical services may include home visits, phone calls, transportation to doctor’s appointments, assistance with grocery shopping, fun outings, and more.
