Many homeowners want a luxurious, spacious bedroom. But if one, or all, of your bedrooms is smaller than you would like, you'll have to get creative. We've created a list of the best ideas for utilizing the space in your cramped bedroom to create a functional space.

Apartment, Bed, Bedroom, Book Shelve, Books, Carpet1. Built-Ins. Floor to ceiling built ins can help make the best use of your wall space. Whether you're storing books or shoes, built-ins can be your friend in tiny bedrooms.

2. Daybed. For a children's or a guest bedroom, a daybed can be the perfect space saver. With either another twin sized bed or storage underneath the bed, you'll be utilizing some much needed space.

3. Wardrobes. If you're bedroom doesn't have much, or any, closet space, a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe with a slim profile may be your best bet.

4. Sconces. Adding wall-mounted lights above the bed can replace the need for a side table lamp.

5. Bright Color or Wallpaper. Adding wallpaper to the entire room can make the space feel even smaller. But if you create a small accent wall or wallpapered nook, it can become a focal point in the room.

6. Minimize the Headboard. A traditional headboard might be too much for a small bedroom. Choose a smaller design or forego a headboard completely and add a piece of art or other focal point above the bed.

7. Utilize Mirrors. Whether you lean a standing mirror against a wall or add mirrors to the wall as decor, mirrors will help the small room feel a little bigger.

8. Multi-Purpose Furniture. If the room is small and you can only fit one piece of furniture, make sure it serves more than one purpose. A dresser can also serve as a night stand. The bench at the foot of the bed can be used for linen storage. A side chair in the guest bedroom can be used as an impromptu side table for guests by providing a place to store their phone or bedside items.
