Typically, late spring and summer are the hottest home selling seasons. But this has been a strange year and the market is still going strong in the Reno-Sparks area. If you're planning to sell your home this fall might be the best time all year to put your home on the market. Here are some tips to consider before you list:
Get Picture Perfect. If you will be selling this fall, consider having professional pictures taken now, while your lawn and landscape is still thriving. Your real estate agent will be able to set up professional photos that work around your schedule.
Improve Fall Curb Appeal. Consider planting fall flowers like chrysanthemums in pots near the front door. If you decorate, choose tasteful, seasonal decor instead of holiday-centered decor.
Make Updates. If you will be listing your home in the next few months, now is the perfect time to tackle those minor home improvements you may have been putting off. Paint or touch up where needed. Update faucets and light fixtures. Even a good deep cleaning will make a home show well. If you aren't sure where to start, consider asking a trusted friend or your real estate agent to make recommendations.
Add Light. As the daylight hours decrease, you will want to increase indoor light. Make sure porch and outdoor lights are working properly and consider adding more light to the interior of the home through table lamps or even new light fixtures. Even giving the windows and light fixtures a good cleaning can increase the amount of light in the home.
Choose An Experienced Real Estate Agent. Working with an qualified agent you trust is important no matter the season. Get recommendations, read reviews, and interview agents. They should have experience selling homes in your neighborhood, be open to answering any questions you may have, and you should feel good about working with them.
