I'm not sure anyone enjoys moving. Sure, moving into a new home is exciting.  You have a fresh canvas and new memories to be made. But the actual process of moving? It's just not pleasant. You can save yourself much of the hassle by hiring a professional moving company. Their services typically include either moving the things you have packed or professionally packing and loading your items and unloading and unpacking at your new residence. Before you hire a moving company, there are several questions you should ask to make the move as smooth as possible.

1. Is there anything you will not move? Confirm the movers will be able to move heavy furniture, like pianos, or your vintage wine collection. If you have anything especially valuable or sentimental, you need to know this ahead of time.

2. What kind of insurance do you provide? Legally, moving companies are required to have liability insurance. But many companies will allow customers to purchase extra insurance. Even if the company doesn't offer greater coverage, you may be able to get moving protection through your homeowner's policy.

3. What restrictions are there for packing materials? Are there limitations to the type of packing material you can use? Do you need to use boxes supplied by the moving company?

4. Do you offer in-person estimates? Estimating the weight of all of your belongings can be very difficult. The most accurate estimate you can have is from the moving company who can point out any potential complications.

5. Can you guarantee the delivery date? The last thing you want is to be in your new, empty home, waiting for your things to arrive. This is especially true if you're making a long distance move. If the movers can provide a guaranteed delivery date, it's even better if they can provide a window of time.

If you are planning a move across town or across the country, please reach out. I will be honored to assist you however I can.
