From concerts, show and shine’s, swap meets, to drag races, there is plenty to do over the next week and half. In a recent Trulia article, Chief Economist Jed Kolko wrote about an interesting housing trend. You might think that Baby Boomers tend to downsize and buy a nice, smaller home in the suburbs. You might also think the average Millenial is purchasing a sleek, modern space downtown. You’d be wrong on both counts. Current population estimates released by the US Census this month would point to the opposite. Boomers are living large in urban areas and Millenials are choosing the ‘burbs.

Using the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors calculations for available inventory, there was a solid three months’ supply of inventory at the beginning of June. This includes all active statuses; Active and Available plus Active/Pending (or in contract / in escrow). We like to look at only Active and Available, which are properties available to purchase and make an offer on.

If we break down the Months of Inventory by price range, and only look at the homes that are Active and Available as of June 29th, we will see low levels of inventory, especially in the under $300,000 price range. For homes priced $10,000-$300,000 there are 31 DAYS of inventory, increasing this variable to almost exactly one month. For homes in the range of $301,000-$600,000,…

Artown features more than 500 events hosted and presented by more than 100 businesses and organization. Explore the daily events here.  Most Artown events are free or are low cost and are a great way to see our community. Saturday, July 11th is The Day of Visual Art. From 9-4, Art In The Garden will be held at 1280 Monroe Street.
